How dependent are you on your computer or smart phone? Do you think it’s a good idea to unplug every now and then? How long can you go without checking email or surfing the net? Do you have a healthy relationship with computers or does your usage border on addition or obsession?

How are your verbal communication skills? Have you ever taken a class to improve your ability to communicate? What difference (if any) did it make in your life?

September 25 Writing Prompt: College

If you went to college, write about the experience and whether it was valuable. If you haven’t gone, why not? Write about your opinion of college and whether you believe it’s worth the time and the money.

September 24 Writing Prompt: Coffee

Does coffee play a role in your life? Do you hate it, drink too much of it, or maybe you simply spend time too much time (or not enough time) at your local coffee shop? Write about the role coffee plays, doesn’t play, or has played in your life.

September 23 Writing Prompt: Clothes

Look through your closet and select an article of clothing that represents an important or significant event in your life. Give this article of clothing a voice of its own and have it “talk” about the event from its point of view.

September 22 Writing Prompt: Choices

In spite of our good intentions, sometimes we ended up making choices that we later come to regret. Write about the worst choice you ever made, and then make an effort to find either humor or insight from the situation. Perhaps the bad choice has ultimately made you a better, more compassionate person.

September 21 Writing Prompt: Chocolate

Do you love chocolate? Is it your favorite sweet? If so, write about the first time you had it. If not, write about your favorite dessert. Include the first time you tasted it or who made it and what it is you love about it.

How do you feel about children? If you have children of your own write about the best and worst part of having them. If you don’t have children, write about the best and worst part of your childhood. Pick two scenes that come to mind and write out as many details as you can. What can you learn by looking at these situations now that you are older and wiser?

Are you someone who fears change or embraces it? What change are you afraid to make? Write about the fear that is stopping you. What change have you recently made? Write about whatever you had to overcome to make that change.

September 18 Writing Prompt: Challenge

When was the last time you challenged yourself to do something extraordinary? Describe the situation and the outcome. Perhaps someone challenged you to do something you had never done before. Describe the situation and why you accepted or declined the challenge.
