November 9 Writing Prompt: Listen
Go outside, close your eyes, and spend some time listening. Write about the sounds you hear. Try describing the a concert of sounds with your words.
November 8 Writing Prompt: Describe a Restaurant or Coffee Shop
Go to a restaurant or coffee house you’ve never been to before. Describe the employees and customers you see. What are they wearing? Are they in a hurry or taking their time? What are they talking about? If you can’t hear the conversation, make something up based on their body language.
November 7 Questions
Write a list of questions that you would like to ask locals (politicians, teachers, students, etc.) in the area where you are going. Try to get all of them answered by the end of your trip.
November 6 Writing Prompt: Research a Destination
Research a place you might like to go (it might even be your home town), then write an 800 word article listing the top 10 reasons to visit this particular place.

November Writing Prompts
This month I’m going to India. It’s a tour with 30 others from around the U.S. and Canada. The itinerary is full of tourist stops and sightseeing, and we will be covering a lot of ground in a very short time (2 weeks). In preparation for the tour I’ve been thinking about topics (in addition to a daily log of meals and activities) that would be interesting to write about—whether you’re traveling halfway around the world or going on a weekend adventure. So, this month’s prompts are designed to encourage you to notice the people, places, and things near and far.
